BARBARA CURRIE'S YOGAReviewed by Lucy SmithI have been exercising using videos at home now for around twelve months and have really found it a fantastic way to keep in shape when working full time makes it hard to go to the gym regularly. I decided that I wanted to try something new from the aerobics videos that I was, and still am using. I decided to try yoga because I had heard of all the benefits it has so I bought this video. I wanted something that I could do if I was too tired to workout but still wanted to do some kind of exercise. Barbara Currie is very encouraging and seems genuinely 'nice'! Although some of the moves are difficult at first I am hoping that in time they will become easier as my suppleness and balance improve. I like the way the video is divided up into three sections, a ten minute 'miracle', a relaxation section and a revitalising section. This means you can vary what you do depending on the time of day, how you are feeling and how much time you can spare. I am finding the ten minute workout especially good, and it's not that difficult to get up ten minutes early, it really revitalises you before work. Each section is made up of a series of moves, and as you go through Barbara explains the benefits of each position. There are two other women demonstrating the moves too, and one often does an easier version for beginners. As you go through the movements, an indicator on the screen shows you where you are up to which is good. I would recommend this tape to anyone who is thinking of trying yoga as a way of firming up, or relaxing. I think it is very good for beginners and a good compliment to other exercises. It is suitable for all ages and I think anyone can benefit from using it. |
